The film My Father’s Scent, directed by Mohamed Siam, will have its world premiere in the Official Competition of the 41st Warsaw International Film Festival, held in Warsaw, Poland, from October 10 to 19, 2025.
It will also compete in the Official Competition of the th El Gouna Film Festival, which takes place from October 16 to 24, 2025.
The film is expected to be released soon in cinemas across Egypt and the Arab world.
The film is written by Mohamed Siam and Ahmed Amer, starring Ahmed Malek, Kamel El Basha, and Mayan El Sayed, and produced by Mohamed Siam and Mohamed Hefzy.

Mohammed Amer’s comedy series will return for its second and final season on Thursday, Jan. 30, with all eight episodes
Amer, who stars in and executive-produces Mo, returns as his on-screen character Mo Najjar, a stateless Palestinian refugee on the journey to becoming a legal citizen. This time around, Mo finds himself in a pickle as he is “stranded across the border and desperate to get back to Houston before his family’s asylum hearing — but as a stateless refugee without a passport, he’s gonna need all the hustle and charm he can muster,” per the official synopsis. “Little does he know that the journey home is just the start of his troubles, and there’s a new guy in town ready to steal both his longtime love Maria and his falafel taco recipe.”

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hosts the Oscars, has revealed the shortlist of films nominated for the 97th Academy Awards. Among those nominated in the Live Action Short Film category is the Palestinian film "An Orange from Jaffa," directed by Mohammad Al-Mughni and staring Kamel El-Basha and Samer Bisharat.

Kamel El-Basha was honored with the Golden Tower Award during the opening ceremony of the 6th Cairo International Short Film Festival. In his acceptance speech, El-Basha expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and thanked everyone who highlights Palestine through words, films, or series. He also acknowledged those dedicated to telling its stories and struggles.
El-Basha emphasized the transformative power of cinema, stating that it not only preserves history but can also redefine it, shape public consciousness, and influence thought processes. He noted that cinema is a vital tool for building new societies and fostering understanding. He called it a profound responsibility for every artist to contribute meaningfully to this mission, to the best of their abilities.
